About this song
The melody from the last movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 (1824). It moves step by step, which makes it a good way to learn finger order. Written in G major for alto sax, it is the first song here that uses the octave key, on the high D.
Practice tips
Going from C to D, press the octave key and put all six fingers down at once. Select bars 1–2 and loop them.
The dotted quarter in bars 4 and 8 lasts one and a half beats; the eighth note after it is short.
Bar 12 ends on low D. Remember to lift your thumb off the octave key.
